Lexington, MA and San Jose, CA, January 22, 2007 Cambridge Technology, Inc., the market leader in galvanometer-based optical scanning technology, today announced another product innovation for high-speed scanning applications. The EC1000 next generation controller for galvo-steered laser scanning applications. The EC1000 is a compact, single-board embedded controller solution designed to be implemented directly into scan heads without requiring a controlling computer. The EC1000 uniquely enables the customer to create small custom Ethernet-based smart scanning nodes, each with local job storage and independent operation. Job storage libraries, system monitoring, and reconfigurations are made either by downloading from a factory-wide host computer via 10/100 base-T Ethernet, temporary connection to a laptop, USB memory stick, or optional pendant.
"The EC1000 allows customers to implement their laser scanning systems in modern network architectures similar to client-server configurations. Said Redmond P. Aylward, President of Cambridge Technology, Inc. The EC1000 embedded controller enhances our catalog of laser scanning components and subsystems enabling our customers to put together very cost-effective systems using our wide variety of state of the art technology.
The EC1000 can be driven either by industry standard marking software packages or through an extensive library of control features supporting 3-axes of direct dynamic galvanometer servo driver control as well as controls for YAG, CO2, fiber lasers, and automation interfaces. About Cambridge Technology - Cambridge Technology, Inc. is the market leader in closed-loop, galvanometer based optical scanning components and supporting products. These products provide superior scanning performance to a wide variety of applications including laser marking, engraving, drilling, machining and treating, biomedical applications in Ophthalmology, DNA sequencing, and Confocal Microscopy, laser entertainment and projection, and any application where laser beam steering is required.
